Paul Donal Wight II, known as The Big Show, was born on February 8, 1972 in Aiken, North Carolina. When Paul was only twelve years old, he was 1.88 meters tall and weighed around 220 pounds, this was because he suffered gigantism. In 1991, The Big Show was chosen to belong to the Wichita State University basketball team at the age of nineteen and with a height of 2.13 m.
Years later, on February 14, 1997, The Big Show married Melissa Ann Piavis but in 2000, they got divorced. On the other hand, on February 11, 2002, Wight remarried, this time with Bess Katramados and they had two children.
In 1998, The Big Show was arrested for an alleged fight with an employee of the Memphis hotel but shortly after he was released because there wasn’t evidence to affirm that fact. A year later, he was again accused of a similar situation by Robert Sawyer who claimed that Wight had broken his jaw. The Big Show stated that Sawyer had insulted him and in response to this, he hit him.
Wight had shown an interest in professional wrestling, but it was only after meeting Hulk Hogan at a basketball event that he entered to this world. The Big Show had great potential for football but what he really loved was wrestling. For this reason, Jim Strauser, owner of a karaoke distributor, contacted Bonaduce to announce the performance between The Big Show and Hogan.
After this, Wight wasted no time and began training with Larry Sharpe for 7 months and shortly after he signed with World Championship Wresteling in 1995 and to hone his fighting skills, he did it through WCW Power Plant.
Currently The Big Show is a professional wrestler and commentator working for All Elite Wrestling. A long time ago, he worked for WCW where he won the title of World Heavyweight Champion twice and in addition, throughout his career there are a large number of achievements like ECW World Champion, WWE Heavyweight Champion, among others.
The most epic data from the Big Show fights
Paul Donal Wight is one of the most recognized fighters in the world in recent years thanks to all the achievements he has acquired throughout his extensive career. The Big Show won around 13 recognitions during his time in WWE and on the other hand, he also got three different belts when he was in WCW because he was one of the best fighters of that time.
From WCW to WWE
WCW maintained a great level for a long time but this began to decline when The Big Show started to doubt whether to continue his career with this company, however, what made the athlete’s decision was not for the ring, it was thanks to another company area. A comment that The Big Show made was the following: “Right after McMahon acquired the great rival, I realized that he understood athletes and wanted them to have a better, long and healthy career. We know it is a company, but it is feel that care for all of us”.
Throughout all the fights that have taken place in WWE, there are some that are difficult to repeat due to the level they have had. On November 14, 1999 something similar to this happened because this fight is not compared to any other, for this, three of the best fighters of that time would come together and they were The Big Show, The Rock and Triple H.
It should be noted that Big Show had not been considered for this battle from the beginning because Steve Austin better known as Stone Cold was the one who was going to be part of the Triple Treat match. Unfortunately, Austin had been injured and it was impossible for him to be ready to return to the ring. For this reason, he yielded his position to Big Show, the man over seven feet tall, who at the end of the night could take the crown.
Championship in pairs
Another epic moment of Wight was when in 2009, the fighter Edge had an injury that The Big Show took advantage of it because it opened the doors for him to have one of the best seasons of his career in the company of a fighter from another company. At that time, Wight belonged to RAW while Chris Jericho already had some tag team titles since he was on Smack Down.
When this couple had their first performance, they defeated The Legacy in order to retain the title of Unified Couples Championship. Later, in their following matches, they passed over pairs such as Rey Mysterio, MVP, Mark Henry, among others. Unfortunately, after 140 days, this couple broke up.
When the fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr and Big Show was going to take place, Floyd was in the front row when he was called to the ring. His height did not compare to the greatest athlete in the world, however, Big Show made the mistake of kneeling and this make that Floyd took advantage and gave him two blows to the face that made the two reach Wrestlemania XXIV.
During all that fight, Big Show managed to completely dominate the match with the fighter, however, he lost the match due to some traps that Floyd applied, this caused that Show were knocked out by Floyd.
Without feet or head
The story with Brock Lesnar was one of the most epic of all time, with the difference that he was not the aggressor because both fighters left in the minds of the fans one of the best endings that will remain etched in everyone’s memory.
On this occasion, Big Show again kept the confrontation dominated, even Lesnar looked like a rag doll. The big problem here was that he couldn’t finish the former NFL player and had to go to extremes to finish it all at once. Both fighters went up to the corner, but Lesnar reacted faster than Bigh Show and managed to make a duplex that ended up pulling all the ropes and destroying the entire ring.
